Obituary for Jacqueline C. "Jackie" Adams (Choquette)

Jacqueline (Choquette) “Jackie” Adams, 83, beloved wife of 57 years to William Joseph “Joe” Adams, of Pawcatuck, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Sunday, March 19, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born in Pawcatuck, she was the daughter of the late Arthur G., Sr. and Mary Choquette. She was a graduate of St. Michael’s School in Pawcatuck and a member of the Stonington High School Class of 1951.

Affectionately known as “Jake” or “Memé,” she was a very devout Catholic, and a lifetime communicant of Saint Michael the Archangel Church in Pawcatuck, where she had been among the church’s first Eucharistic ministers. In addition she also volunteered at the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center and chaired the St. Michael Summer Festival for two years. She was an accomplished seamstress and crocheter, and enjoyed gardening. She was an excellent chef and baker.

In passing she is reunited with her family who predeceased her. In addition to her parents, her sisters: Georgette Brucker, Kay Purtill Gallagher, Jeanne Senior and Doris Jeffers; and her brothers: Arthur, Jr., John and Robert Choquette.

In addition to her husband, she will be deeply missed by her three daughters, Sheila Thomas and her husband John of Templeton, Massachusetts, and Cheryl Cook and her husband Scott, and Sharon Adams, all of Pawcatuck. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Lauren, Julie and Eric Thomas of Templeton, Massachusetts, and Benjamin and Ella Cook of Pawcatuck; her brother Hector and his wife Cynthia of Pawcatuck as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 6-8pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Funeral Liturgy will take place on Friday at 11am at St. Mary’s Church, 95 Main St., Stonington. There is no procession from the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Pawcatuck. In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests that donations be made to either St. Michael Church Capital Campaign, 60 Liberty St., Pawcatuck, CT 06379 or the PACE Adult Day Center of Westerly, 5 Union St., Westerly, RI 02891 where she went during the later years of her life.
