Obituary for Julio Costa
Julio Costa, 79, beloved husband for 57 years of Silvina (Martins) Costa, of Red Barn Dr., Bradford, passed away at his home on Monday, July 10, 2017.
Born in Lisbon, Portugal, he was the son of the late Antonio and Ilda Costa.
Julio was a first class carpenter at Electric Boat in Groton where he worked for many years and was also formerly employed at Guild Guitar Co. for 15 years. His many works of furniture and guitars are now throughout the world. He was a life member and Past President of the Portuguese Holy Ghost Society in Stonington and is a veteran of the Portuguese Army.
In addition to his wife, Julio leaves three children, Antonio E. Costa of W. Warwick, Patrick H. Costa of Hope Valley and Celeste M. Costa of Bradford; a sister Candida Costa of Portugal; three grandchildren, Mary Rose Collins, and Aaron and Tiffany Golding; as well as two great grandchildren, Ethan and Cadence Collins. He was predeceased by his grandson Nicholas Costa and great grandson Josiah Costa.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly from 10 am – 12 noon, immediately followed by a funeral service at 12 noon in the funeral home.
