Obituary for Joseph A. Perri Jr.

Joseph A. Perri, Jr., 80, beloved husband of Glenys (Brady) Perri, of 6 Hobart Street, Westerly, passed away at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence on Wednesday, July 12, 2017.

Born in Westerly, he was the son of the late Angeline and Joseph A. Perri, Sr.

Joseph, a lifelong resident of Westerly, graduated from Westerly High School and attended the University of Rhode Island. He later finished a tour of duty in the US Air Force. Joseph traveled around the world working as a Machine Mechanic for Harris Intertype for many years. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Pius X Church and a member of the BPOE No. 678. Joseph loved his family, his community and was an avid gardener and reader who was known to be a rabid NY Yankee fan!

He leaves behind his wife Glenys; two children, Rev. Dean P. Perri of East Providence and Shannon L. Algier of Westerly; and a sister Patricia A. Panciera, also of Westerly. In addition, Joseph will be dearly missed by his three grandchildren, Sean, Jamie and Jordan Algier; a great granddaughter Maiya Algier; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4-8pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Monday, July 17, at 10:00 am at St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm St., Westerly. There is no procession from the funeral home to church. Burial will follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Pius X Church in Joseph’s memory.
