Obituary for Neil A. Mount

Neil A.  Mount
Neil A. Mount, beloved husband for 63 years of Barbara (Cavalieri) Mount, of Benson Avenue, Misquamicut, passed away unexpectedly at Hartford Hospital on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the age of 84.

A lifelong resident of Meriden, CT prior to moving to Westerly, Neil was born a son of the late William and Adeline Mount. He was also predeceased by his stepbrother William.

Neil graduated from Meriden High School in 1950 [as the captain of the football team where he met and fell in love with his high school sweetheart Barbara, captain of the cheerleading] and Cheshire Academy before attending Holy Cross and UCONN. He then served in the US Army for two years earning an honorable discharge with a National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Returning to his academics at the University of Hartford, he completed a BS and then attained an MBA. He retired after many years of a dedicated and satisfying career with Pratt & Whitney working as a Mechanical Engineer and Procurement Manager.

An avid outdoors man, Neil retired to Westerly, RI where he continued to enjoy a full and vibrant life and love of golf, tennis and travel. His beloved wife Barbara was always at his side. He found joy in spending time with his grandchildren, taking great pride in their accomplishments. His loving and generous spirit will be greatly missed by all those he touched.

He is survived by his wife Barbara; his three daughters, Karen Dettor of Warren, VT, Kimberly Mount of TX and Kelly Gonzalez and her husband Ronald of Durham, CT. Neil also leaves four sisters, Carol Ouellette, Sharon Tangney and Lynne Gousheski, all of Connecticut, and Donna Murphy and husband Craig of Westerly; six grandchildren, Ryan, Adeline, Andrew, Nicholas, Nathan and Owen; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 5pm 7:30pm at Gaffney Dolan Funeral Home, 59
Spruce St., Westerly. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial celebration at St. Clare Church, Crandall Avenue, Westerly on Wednesday at 10 am. There is no procession from the funeral home to church. Burial with Full Military Honors will be conducted
