Obituary for Leone G. Sylvia (Winkler)
Leone G. (Winkler) Sylvia, 85, of Westerly, passed away on September 11, 2017 at the Westerly Health Center.
Born in New London, Conn., she was the daughter of the late Lionel and Thelma Winkler.
She was predeceased by her first and only love, Joseph M. Sylvia, Jr., with whom she shared many happy years in the raising of their eight children.
She is survived by her sons, Joseph and wife Barbara, Donald and wife Amanda, Charlie and wife Beth, John and Gary; and her daughters, Cheryl, Vera and husband Hal, and Jean. Leone is also survived by her brother Lionel and sister-in-law Nila, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She attended Central Baptist Church in Westerly, was called “Lee” by many, her favorite color was blue, she loved the beach rose, was an avid reader and for many years enjoyed the family pets Whitley, Spencer and Oliver.
Leone loved life. She knew tomorrow would always be there but knew too it is promised to no one. She lived simple but lived well. She found peace within herself and worried not.
The family would like to thank the Westerly Health Center for all of the outstanding care.
