Obituary for James R. Roach

James R. ”Buddy” Roach, 89, beloved husband for 41 years of Joyce C. (Finizio) Roach, of Westerly, RI passed away at his home on Thursday, September 7, 2017.

Born in Mangum, Oklahoma, he was the son of the late James Elmer and Eula Mae Roach. He graduated from Mangum High School in 1946 and remained an active member of the Alumni Association.

James worked for Mobil Oil Corporation nationwide and internationally. He retired in 1985.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his daughter Pamela Sue Koudelka of Spring, TX; two stepsons, S. Joseph Bookataub (Regina) of Ocean Isle, NC and Michael Bookataub (Susan) of Westerly; his sister, Mary Katherine Matthews of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. James was predeceased by his daughter Kathy Lee Vaeza; and sisters, Idell Choate, Wanna Lee Thomas and his brother, RJ Roach.

A Graveside Funeral Service will take place at First Hopkinton Cemetery, Chase Hill Rd., Ashaway, RI on Friday, September 15th at 11:30a.m. Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly is in charge of the arrangements. For online condolences please visit www.gaffneydolanfuneralhome.com
