Obituary for Alben F. "Al" Puhlick Sr.

Alben F. "Al"  Puhlick Sr.
Alben F. “Al” Puhlick, Sr., beloved husband for 58 years of Margaret (Stancook) Puhlick, of Westerly, passed away at RI Hospital on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at the age of 80.

Born in Larksville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Cecelia Puhlick.

A graduate of NFA Class of ‘54 and the University of New Haven Class of ’71, Al became a Mechanical Engineer and was employed at Electric Boat in Groton for many years until his retirement. He was a dedicated and active Communicant of St. Michael Church, a member of Seaside Beach Club, and a passionate UCONN sports fan.

In addition to his wife, he leaves four children, Carole Haggerty and fiancé Thomas DiPietro of Westerly, Alben F. Puhlick, Jr. and fiancée Laura Kelly of Farmington, CT, Mary Puhlick and husband William Glenn of East Lyme, CT, and Patricia Lombardi and husband Andrew of Colchester, CT; as well as two siblings, Lorraine Healey of Kiawah, SC and Daniel Puhlick of Springfield, VA. Al will be dearly missed by his five grandchildren, Michael, Kathryn, Alexander, Alexis and Jamison; four great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Nicholas.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4-7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend a Funeral Liturgy on Tuesday at 10am at St. Mary’s Church, 95 Main St., Stonington, CT. There is no procession to church from the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Pawcatuck. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Michael Capital Campaign, 60 Liberty St., Pawcatuck, CT 06379 in Al’s memory.
