Obituary for Ronald G. Gilman

Ronald G.   Gilman
Ronald G. Gilman, 72, of Riverview Ave., Westerly, passed away at The Westerly Hospital on Saturday, November 4, 2017.

Born in Westerly, he was the son of the late George W. and Rita Gilman.

Ron worked as a Machinist at Harris Graphics Corp. for many years and was also formerly employed at Electric Boat in Groton. A US Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a member of the Amancio-Falone-Gaccione VFW Post #8955, a member of the Westerly BPOE 678 and the Calabrese Society North End Social Club. He also was a member of R.I.M.S., the Ashaway Gun Club and the NRA. He enjoyed his Corvettes and going to car shows, and loved NASCAR.

He is survived by his sister-in-law Linda Gilman of Westerly; three nephews, John Gilman and his wife Jan, Robert Gilman and his wife Debra and Kristofer Gilman and his wife Jessica; and his best friend and dog Sarge. He was also the best great-uncle in the world to Nick, Lauren, Ben, Michael, Matthew, Katie and Sarah. Ronald was predeceased by his brother Henry R. Gilman. A special thanks to Ron’s four lifelong friends, Rocco, Clarkie, Ron and Sam, and the entire Wednesday Night Gang.

The family wishes to also extend a special thanks to the staff of The Westerly Hospital, especially Dr. Luk and Dr. Jalbert, for their outstanding care.

Visiting hours are omitted. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Thursday at 11am at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly.
