Obituary for John F. Wulforst Jr.

John F. Wulforst Jr., 51 of Westerly, RI passed away unexpectedly from a massive heart attack on November 20, 2017. John was born in Westerly, the loving son of John “Jack” F. Wulforst Sr. of Gilbert, AZ and Arlene Kores of Westerly.

John is also survived by his loving stepmother Jean and two sisters, Tracy (Timothy) Chipperfield, Westerly, RI and Danielle (Timothy) Williams, Gilbert, AZ; nephew and Godson Jordan Timothy Williams and niece Presley Marie Williams; beloved former wife Lynda Wulforst and her children, Jackie (Dave) Foss, Christopher LaMonaca, Lea (Susie) LaMonaca; and grandchildren, Josh Gougon, Emery, Riley Foss and Kiylee LaMonaca . He was Godfather to Natalie Ritacco and Amber Garafola.

John graduated from Westerly High School in 1984. John was First Team All Conference in 1984 and All State Division football player in 1983 & 1984 at the position of Middle Linebacker. John was awarded Best Defensive Player in the Turkey Day Games in 1983 & 1984. Jim Murano said John was one of the top defensive players he has ever coached. John was a former season ticket holder and avid fan of The New England Patriots.

John’s original love for construction began with following in his father Jack’s footsteps, the former owner of Wulforst Form Company. In 1994 John worked at Cherenzia and Associates for the late Ray Cherenzia whom he cherished as his mentor.

John was instrumental in the construction of many local area landmark projects working as a Superintendent for J.L. Marshall & Sons, Seekonk MA starting in 1997and continued until the time of his death.

Some of the projects John was instrumental in were Gillette Stadium, the home of the New England Patriots, multiple projects at Foxwoods Casino including the Hard Rock Café, Earth Hotel at Mohegan Sun, vast building projects at Yale University in New Haven, CT and too many more to mention.

Visitation will be held Sunday, 11/26/17 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at Gaffney Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm St., Westerly on Monday at 10:00am. There is no procession from the funeral home to church. Burial will be private.
