Obituary for Donald Anderson Sr.

Donald Anderson, Sr., 89, beloved husband of Joyce R. (Rankin) Anderson, of Pawcatuck, passed away at Mystic Healthcare on Thursday, December 14, 2017.

Donald was born in Providence, the son of the late Herbert C. and Irene Anderson.

He was a US Army veteran who served in Japan during WWII. He was the founder of the Service Dept. at Emmett Oil Co. and later worked as a pipefitter at Harris Graphics Corp. for many years until his retirement. In addition, he was employed by the Town of Stonington in maintenance and as a courier. Donald was a devoted communicant of St. Michael Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Donald Anderson, Jr.; his daughter Jill Curioso and husband Tom; and four stepchildren, Bob Charnetski (Michelle), Janice Bagby (Curt), Mike Charnetski (Dori), and Shelley Rubert. He also leaves three grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Donald was predeceased by his sister Irene and brothers, John and Herbert.

Visiting hours are omitted. A Funeral Service will be held at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly on Thursday at 11am. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly.
