D. Paul  Silva
D. Paul Silva, 75, of Ashaway, Rhode Island passed away on January 6, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Paul was born in New London, CT the son of the late David Joseph and Cynthia Silva. Paul graduated from Fitch High School, where he is a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame for his excellence in football and track and field. Paul married his high school sweetheart, Mary Algiere, in 1964 and welcomed 6 children into this world. He loved spending time with his family, doing puzzles, and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their many activities. Paul was active in coaching Youth Football in both Stonington and Westerly. He worked at Electric Boat for 47 years before retiring to spend more time with his family. Paul leaves behind his children, Coleen McLeod (Mark), David (Molly), Santo (Lisa), Mark, and Kate Wicklund, as well as his 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was a loving brother to Nancy Espinosa and Cindy Brown. He was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Beth Silva Stockman.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 10th from 4-8 pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce Street, Westerly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 7 Church Street Bradford, on Thursday January 11th at 10am. There is no procession from the funeral home to the church. Burial will be private. Paul’s family wishes to thank the many healthcare providers who cared for him in his final days. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made, in Paul’s name, to Westerly Pee Wee Football, 60 Old Hopkinton Rd Westerly, RI.
