Obituary for Lila L. Friedman (Leibovitz)
Lila (Leibovitz) Friedman of Riverdale, New York, passed away at the Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx on January 11th 2018. Mrs. Friedman was the widow of Alan Friedman and the daughter of the late Philip and Miriam Leibovitz, formerly of Westerly.
Lila was a graduate of Westerly High School and, after her marriage to Alan, resided in New York City for over 60 years. She was employed as a medical secretary for Dr. Samuel Cohen in New York for many years before retirement.
Lila had a bright and challenging wit and was a mother figure to many younger friends and family-members.
She is survived by her cousins, Janet Smith of Riverdale, Art Leibowitz of Green Valley, Arizona, Brenda Strauss and Nancy Winnick of Natick, Massachusetts, Sarah McCullough of Boca Raton, Florida, and Nathaniel Leibowitz of Nantucket, Massachusetts, as well as their respective children. She will be sadly missed by a cadre of friends and companions in New York, especially her devoted care-giver and pal, Robin Taylor.
Graveside services shall be conducted by Rabbi Ethan Adler at the Norwich Hebrew Benevolent Society Cemetery #2, Route 12, Preston, Connecticut on Wednesday, January 17th at 1:00 pm.
