Obituary for Martha H. Muoio (Ponte)
Martha H. (Ponte) Muoio, beloved wife of Frank A. Muoio, Jr. of Springbrook Road, Westerly, passed away at the Westerly Health Center on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the age of 84.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late John and Minnie Ponte.
Following their retirement she thoroughly enjoyed the winter months she and her husband spent in Boynton Beach, Florida. She also enjoyed bowling and shuffleboard leagues along with playing Bingo and shopping.
Her greatest joy in life, however, was her family. She took great delight in spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She looked forward to family gatherings and enjoyed cooking everyone their favorite dishes.
Martha was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Westerly.
In addition to her loving husband Frank, she leaves her daughters, Pamela Lewis and her husband William of Florida and Chereyl Gebler and her husband Robert of Westerly. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren Stacey Maxwell and her husband Brandon, Kristi Carriero and her husband Michael, Dawn Lewis and Tammy Adams along with her great grandchildren, Austin and Hayley Maxwell and Mackenzie and Callie Carriero, Tyler Gymr and her special niece Kimberly Falcone; and several nieces and nephews. Martha was predeceased by her son Frank A. Muoio, III; her brother Antonio Ponte; and her sister Florence Lawrence.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 5-7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 111 High St., Westerly on Tuesday at 10am. There is no procession from the funeral home to church. Burial will be at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 245 Waterman St., Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906 in Martha’s memory.
