Margaret “Peggy” L. Roever, 76, of Ashaway passed away peacefully on Thursday March 1st at home surrounded by her loving family after an extended illness.

She was an avid reader and was a founding member of the Ashaway Free Library Book Club. Peggy along with her husband was a member of the URI Master Gardeners and enjoyed sharing her beautiful yard and gardens. A talented hobbyist, she shared her creative talents with everyone. Peggy created the Stamping program at the Ashaway Free Library where she was a longtime Assistant Librarian. She was also a Stamping Up Demonstrator and a volunteer at the Ashaway and St. Pius X School Libraries.

In addition to the many friends who will deeply miss her, she is survived by her husband Frederick O. Roever Jr, her son Jon F. Roever and his wife Nancy of Florida, Her son Paul W. Roever and his wife Joanna of Ashaway, and a daughter Leigh M. Roever of Westerly. Peggy also leaves her three grandchildren, Tessa Roever of New Hampshire, Isabella and Joseph Roever of Ashaway.

Peggy was born in Schenectady, NY. She was a lover of the arts, music, musicals and operas. She also enjoyed nature trips with her grandchildren and friends. The family requests donations in lieu of flowers be made to the Ashaway Free Library.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4-7 pm at the Gaffney –Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce Street, Westerly. Funeral services and burial will be private.
