Obituary for Viola T. Manfredi (Pukas)
Viola T. (Pukas) Manfredi, 94, of Dunns Corner Road, Westerly, passed away at her home on Sunday, March 4, 2018. She was the wife of the late Cosmo Manfredi, Sr.
She was the daughter of the late John and Mariana Pukas.
Viola, together with her husband Cosmo, Sr., was the owner and operator of Manfredi Farm. She enjoyed the farm and her family life – telling stories, cracking jokes and cooking. She was very proud of her polish heritage and regularly uttered polish phrases, shared her favorite polish recipes, listened to polkas, reminisced of many dances and still played the harmonica. She was also a devoted communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church.
She leaves her three sons, Cosmo Manfredi, Jr. of Narragansett, and Joseph Manfredi and wife Margaret and Richard Manfredi, all of Westerly; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Nancy Manfredi; two brothers, Edward and Anthony; as well as five sisters, Sophie, Gladys and Bertha Pukas, Josephine Carsten and Pauline Dubrowski.
The family would like to give thanks to Viola’s caregivers that loved and cared for her.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 7 Church St., Bradford on Thursday at 10am. There is no procession from the funeral home to church. Burial will follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hope Hospice RI in Viola’s memory.
