Obituary for Dwight C. Brown Jr.

Dwight  C.  Brown Jr.
Dwight C. Brown, Jr., 90, of Ashaway Road, Bradford, passed away at his home on Monday, April 16, 2018. He was the husband of the late Anna Irene (Riley) Brown who predeceased him on April 30, 2015.

Born in Westerly, he was a son of the late Dwight C. Sr. and Elizabeth Brown.

Dwight was a USAF veteran and worked as Plant Engineer for BDA for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Westerly Historical Society and the Babcock Smith House where he gave several lectures on local history. An author of eight books pertaining to our local history, Dwight was also a genealogy and local history research volunteer for the Westerly Public Library where he had a research table that was dedicated on his 90th birthday. He was known for his oil paintings and was an accomplished cabinet maker.

He leaves five children, Kathy and husband John Jeselnick of Eldred, PA, Dwight C. Brown, III and wife Phyllis of Hollis, NH, Stephen Brown of Charlestown, Debra and husband Dr. David Maurer of Burnsville, MN and James Brown of Bradford. He is also survived by two siblings, Robert Brown of Florida and Linda Murano of Lakeland, FL; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Dwight was predeceased by his daughter Pamela Brown.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday at 10am in the funeral home. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at First Hopkinton Cemetery
