Obituary for Mervin A. Bennett Jr.

Mervin A.  Bennett Jr.
Mervin A. Bennett, Jr., beloved husband of Marie (Smith) Bennett, of Pierce St., Westerly, passed away in Westerly on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the age of 69.

Born in S. Kingstown, RI, he was a son of the late Mervin, Sr. and Alice Bennett.

Mervin worked as a cook for Dylan’s Restaurant for many years. He enjoyed fishing and quahoging and loved old Westerns. He was known as an accomplished spoon player.

In addition to his wife Marie, he leaves his four children, Michael Winters and wife Dawn, George Smith and Gary Smith and wife Tracy, all of Westerly and Crystal Smith of Pawcatuck. He will also be dearly missed by his eight siblings, William Bennett and Cindy O’Malley, both of Westerly, Leon Bennett, Philip Bennett and Christopher Bennett, all of Providence, Betty Galvin of RI, Barbara Esau of Medford, NH and Marlene Newman of Torrington, CT; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mervin was predeceased by his three brothers, Robert, Donald and Thomas Bennett; and two sisters, Alice Brayman and Debra Bennett.

Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at 12 noon on Wednesday, April 18th, at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Burial will be private. For online condolences please visit www.gaffneydolanfuneralhome.com
