Obituary for Robert C. Schilke
Robert C. Schilke, 74, beloved husband for 50 years of Maria (Santos) Schilke, of Laurel Avenue, Westerly, passed away at Yale New Haven Hospital on Tuesday, April 17, 2018.
Born in Westerly, he was a son of Harriet Schilke of Westerly and the late Reinhold Schilke.
Robert worked for National Grid for many years retiring as a Transportation Supervisor.
A US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a member of the VFW Post 8955 as well as a member of the Westerly Police Reserve and the Westerly Ambulance Corps where he was past President. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting.
Besides his wife, he leaves three children, Robert C. Schilke, Jr. (Sandra) and Leah Schilke Holloway (Tracy), all of Westerly and Kimberly Schilke Banner of Bridgeport, CT; three siblings, Edward (Nancy) Schilke, Sandra Chiaradio Christina and Linda Bruno, all of Westerly; four grandchildren, Jacob, Ethan and Ryan Holloway and Hayden Banner; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend a Funeral Service on Friday at 10am in the funeral home. Burial will follow at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly.
