Obituary for Steven M. Bousquet
Steven M. Bousquet, beloved husband of 40 years to Mary (Hurst) Bousquet, of Westerly, RI, passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the age of 68.
Born in Springfield, MA he was a son of Emily Bousquet of Chicopee, MA and the late Gerald Bousquet of Chicopee, MA.
Steven was a graduate of Westfield State University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education while working second shift at Smith & Wesson and serving in the Air National Guard. He then proceeded to earn his Master’s Degree at Springfield College. He later completed coursework in Educational Leadership at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Steven held a variety of teaching and administrative roles in the educational field for 34 years. He culminated his career by serving seven years as Principal of Lambert Lavoie Elementary School in Chicopee, MA until his retirement in 2006. In addition to being an educator, Steven coached youth soccer for a number of years. Steven’s passion for helping and teaching others served him well throughout his career.
Steven loved playing golf and was a member of a league at Elmridge Country Club. In addition, he was an accomplished carpenter and dog lover. Most importantly, Steven was a devoted family man. He was proud to be a doting grandfather to his three granddaughters.
Besides his mother, he will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Mary, two sons, Steven M. Bousquet and wife Dr. Danielle Dunetz of Rehoboth, MA and Thomas J. Bousquet and wife Shara of Westerly, RI, three cherished granddaughters, Charlotte, Sophie, and Haley, and his three dogs, Allie, Seamus, and Daisy Mae. He also leaves his brother Frank Bousquet of Belchertown, MA and several nieces and nephews. Steven was predeceased by his brother Gerald Bousquet.
A visiting hour will be held at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly, RI on Friday from 8:30-9:30am, immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm St., Westerly, RI.
