Obituary for Norman P. Dion

Norman P.  Dion
Norman P. Dion, beloved husband for 49 years of Mildred (Manning) Dion, of Apache Drive, Westerly, passed away at his home on Monday, July 9, 2018.

Born in Westerly, he was the son of the late Douglas B. and Charlotte P. Dion.

Norman was a purchasing agent for The Moore Company for 42 years until his retirement in 2008. He was a life member of the Westerly Ambulance Corp for a total of 53 years and a longtime member and past president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He had served with the National Guard.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his three children, Gary M. Dion and wife Jennifer of Newbury, NH, and Amy L. Dolahan and husband John and Andrew P. Dion and wife Martha, all of Charlestown. He will also be dearly missed by three grandchildren, Emma and Hannah Dion and Audrey Dolahan; and several nieces and nephews. Norman was predeceased by two brothers, Douglas B. Dion, Jr. and David A. Dion.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm St., Westerly on Friday at 11am. There is no procession from the funeral home to church. Burial will take place at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o Immaculate Conception Church, 111 High St., Westerly, RI 02891 or to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 in Norman’s memory.
