Obituary for Aimee L. Reed

Aimee L. Reed
Pawcatuck - Aimee Lynn Reed passed away on Wednesday, August 29th after a valiant 3 1/2 year battle with breast cancer. Aimee leaves behind her parents, Karen and Walter G Reed, III of Pawcatuck, her brother Walter G Reed, IV and his wife Christina of Pawcatuck, her sister Jennifer Dugas and her husband Brandon of Pawcatuck, her half-brother Jeffrey Reed and his wife Kerrie of Exeter; and her grandparents, Kenneth and Margaret Shaw of Westerly. Aimee also leaves behind her aunts, uncles, cousins and several nieces and nephews.

Aimee was an inspiration to many in the way she handled her difficult situation, always with a smile on her face or a joke to share even at the last hours of life.

Aimee graduated from Stonington High School in 2001 and was a graduate of Rhode Island College in 2006 where she was a member of the softball team and earned a degree in Physical Education. She later went on to get her Masters in Special Education from Southern Connecticut State University.

Aimee worked as a client caregiver for Oak Hill in Niantic, CT prior to being diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer. After being diagnosed, she focused her energy on fighting her illness and supporting numerous cancer research groups.

We would like to thank Aimee’s friends, supporters, and medical team who helped her over the years with her many phases of treatment.

Aimee will be missed by so many people who loved her gregarious personality, her beautiful smile, and her amazing friendship.

We TRI 4 Aimee - Just keep swimming!
