Obituary for Jay C. Morosini

Jay C. Morosini
Jay Carlson Morosini, 49, of Pawcatuck, CT passed away suddenly on October 11, 2018.

Born is Pawcatuck to Joseph and Kathryn Morosini, Jay was a 1987 graduate of Stonington High School and later continued studies at Three Rivers Community College. A hard worker from the age of 12, he eventually came to own his own asphalt paving business. He was an avid weightlifter and exceptional athlete, winning the Connecticut State Junior Olympic gold medal in Judo and excelling in various other sports throughout his life, exemplified most notably in his love of boxing, where he was at one point a sparring partner for the World Champion boxer Vinny Pazienza.

Jay had a fantastic sense of humor and nobody could tell a joke or story like him. He was also a movie buff, sharing this love with his daughter Ava, introducing her from an early age to Willy Wonka and the Rocky series. He was a constant defender of the “underdog” in life and will be fondly remembered as a fiercely loyal friend.

In addition to his beloved parents and precious daughter Ava, Jay also leaves behind Ava’s mother, Michelle Larese-Casenova; his sister Ann Christina and her partner Billy Hazard; and 2 nephews, Jake and Zachary Christina. He was especially close with his uncle and aunt, Wayne and Anita Rainey; and cousins, Leigh, Erin and Michael; as well as many other aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.
Jay fought a long battle with mental illness and addiction, a battle which he sadly lost. May he now finally find the peace he was desperately searching for. He will be greatly missed by his family and those who knew and loved him.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, October 17 from 5-7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Funeral service and burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider donating in Jay’s memory to the WARM Center, 56 Spruce St., Westerly, RI 02891.
