Marie J. Jarvis, beloved mother, grandmother (Nana), & friend, of N. Stonington,
CT, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday August 16, 2014.

She was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Joseph & Vincenza Chaplen. In 1950 she married the late Carl H. Jarvis & together they had 5 children. At a young age Marie worked at Gilbert Clock Shop in Winsted, CT then for many years in the office of Wheeler High School in N. Stonington until retirement. She then worked for Dr. Blefeld's pediatric office in Groton, CT.
A unique soul, Marie was very funny & caring. She enjoyed playing cards, games, & socializing with friends & family. She was an avid reader & sports fanatic. She loved all animals, & traveled to many destinations. She will be greatly missed.

Marie is survived by her son Ross Jarvis & his wife Mary of Pueblo, Co; daughter Lynn Leonard & her husband Bob of Athol, Ma; daughter Beth Castle & her late husband Ray of Livingston, TN; son Owen Jarvis of Columbia, SC; Roy Jarvis of N. Stonington, CT & many grandchildren of which she was especially close to her 1st born granddaughter, Lisa Babbitt & her husband Scott of Griswold, CT.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Mystic VFW, 60 Stonington Rd., Mystic, CT on Saturday August 23rd at 1pm. Donations may be made to the Westerly Animal Shelter, 33 Larry Hirsch Lane, Westerly, RI 02891, in Marie’s memory.
