Obituary for Charles E. Jaconetta

Charles E.  Jaconetta
Charles E. Jaconetta, 92, beloved husband for 62 years of M. Alice (Cassidy) of Midland Rd., Westerly, passed away at the Providence VA Medical Center on Monday, March 30, 2015.

Born in Westerly, he was a son of the late Santo and Immaculota Iaconetti.

Charles was a Machinist with Harris Graphics for over 40 years until his retirement. He was an avid baseball fan and a longtime Chicago Cubs fan. A US Army Veteran of WWII, Charles received a Purple Heart; a Presidential Unit Citation; and a Combat Infantryman’s Badge which is awarded to those who served for at least 60 days in the infantry and isconsidered to be the most honorable medal next to the Medal of Honor, as well as many other commendations.

In addition to his wife, he leaves behind four children, Mary Alice Jaconetta of Westerly; Gina Radicioni and husband Walter of W. Hartford, VT; Joseph Jaconetta and wife Tina of Glastonbury, CT; and Julie Almeida and husband Rob of Pawcatuck; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three siblings, Nunziato Iaconetti, Angelo Jaconetta and Cecelia Iaconetti.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 111 High St., Westerly on Wednesday at 1pm. There is no procession from the funeral home to church.
