Obituary for Angelo A. "Buba" Urso Jr.

Angelo A. "Buba" Urso, Jr. beloved husband of Constance (Walker) Urso, of Westerly, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, October 16, 2017 at the age of 90.

Born in Westerly, he was a son of the late Angelo A. and Philomena Urso.

Buba lived a full and rich life with his beautiful partner, Conni sharing 68 years together residing in both Westerly and Green Valley, AZ, enjoying the company of immediate and extended family and friends. He was the former owner and operator of Drive-In Package Store in Westerly and partner in the Seaside Beach Club in Misquamicut. Buba was an avid golfer and member of the Winnapaug Country Club and the Canoa Hills Country Club in AZ, where he left behind envious golfing buddies with a career of nine holes in one and club championships on both courses. Buba also captured the first place title in the Majorca, Spain Pro/Am tournament with golf pro Phil Jones. He was a life member of the Westerly BPOE #678, a veteran of the US Navy WWII serving in Panama and a communicant of Saint Claire's Church.

His open door- open heart offered friends and family a "comFORTable" place to relax and enjoy old stories, funny jokes and often needed advice and love. Buba was a modern day sage of the times and never turned his back to anyone. A most generous and humorous man, Buba touched the lives of many with his wit and compassion. A master gardener, a charming dancer and skilled listener, Buba also enjoyed coaching many a golf lesson in his back yard. As the last member of his generation, Buba was able to attend the Urso Family Reunion on October 7th. Family, especially his wife Conni, was his most cherished possession and his gift of love will be the legacy he leaves for all. In Buba's words, "Chin Don!"

In addition to his wife, he leaves three children, Robert J. Urso and his partner Heather Nordeng, Lorri Urso Dean and her husband Thomas, all of Westerly and Michael J. Urso and his wife Kim of Stonington. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, Alexandra, Zachary, Max, Melissa, Michael, Matthew, Hailey, Joseph, Alexander, Taylor, Victoria and Christian and four great grandchildren, Adelyn, Fallon, Abbagail and Tatiana. Buba was predeceased by a granddaughter Rachel Walker Dean and his three brothers, Nate, John and Frank Urso: and four sisters, Mary Lawton, Margaret Lord, Eleanor Sammataro and Lena Gervasini.

The family would like to thank the Dr's and staff at The Westerly Hospital, Westerly Health Center, Apple Rehab-Watch Hill and Hope Hospice and Palliative Care. A special thank you to Caron, enabling Buba to remain at home.

Visiting hours will be held at Gaffney Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly on Friday from 11am to 1pm, immediately followed by a Funeral Service in the funeral home. Burial will be private. For online condolences please visit www.gaffneydolanfuneralhome.com.
