Claude L. Routhier
Claude L. Routhier of Westerly, passed away on February 9, 2018. He was 84 years old. He is now rejoined with his two brothers, Leo and Roland Routhier who passed in 2016 and 2013 respectively.

Born in Berlin, New Hampshire, he was the son of Amedee and Camille Routhier. He graduated from Notre Dame High School and NH Tech Institute with an associate degree.

In his younger years, he played semi-pro hockey for the Berlin Maroons. He was a US Army veteran. Claude worked as a structural designer at Electric Boat in Groton for 35 years before retiring in 1997. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

Claude leaves behind his wife of 25 years, M. Susan Routhier; four children, Brian Routhier and his wife Stephanie of Narragansett, Charles Routhier and his wife Jennifer of Dobbs Ferry, NY, Christine Krumins and her husband Peter of Tacoma, WA and Carla Routhier of Seattle, WA and their mother Lillian Haglund. He also leaves behind three stepchildren, Gary Dowrey and wife Susan of Blackstone, MA, Robert Dowrey and his wife Susan of North Stonington and Rebecca Jacoinski and her husband Larry of Westerly. He is survived by 16 grandchildren, Jacob, Sean, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Heather, Stuart, Owen, Grace, Graham, Emma, Zachary, Brooke, Jack, Alex, Luke and Olive; sister-in-law Simone Routhier; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In his younger years, Claude enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and hunting. During the winter, Claude and Sue enjoyed traveling to Florida to enjoy their vacation home. Claude was a guy’s guy. A Mr. Fix it with a solution with detailed instructions drafted out (if you wanted them or not). He loved visiting antique shops to find the deal of a century.
Husband, Dad, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend - words cannot express how much you will be missed. We all love you dearly. Look over us and send your guidance and love.
