John A. Perkins, 54, of Old Post Road, Westerly, passed away at L&M Hospital in New London on Friday, April 27, 2018 after a brief illness.
Born in Westerly, he was the beloved son of the Donald and Margaret Brown and Edward E. and Barbara A. Perkins of Westerly.
He was an avid fisherman; always enjoying a day out on the boat or the jetty, even if he didn't catch anything. He also enjoyed watching the NE Patriots & Boston Red Sox & trips to Fenway Park.
John worked as a meat cutter at Dunns Corners Market for the past 24 years. He was a smiling face greeting you from behind the counter and often cracking jokes. His sense of humor was one-of-a-kind. He was known to so many in the community due to his many years of employment at the market.
He leaves behind his son Taylor E. Perkins of Paoli, IN and his son’s fiancé Jerica Cole; a sister Kathleen D. Perkins of Westerly; one grandson Greyson J. Perkins; and aunts Linda J. Morrone and Shirley Brightman. He will also leave behind many co-workers, friends and customers of Dunns Corners Market who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by Donald and Margaret Brown and Edward E. and Barbara A. Perkins.
Visiting hours are omitted. A Memorial Service will be held at Dunn’s Corners Community Church Presbyterian, 221 Post Road, Westerly on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.
