Obituary for Wanda Julia Cornell
Wanda Julia Cornell, age 96, of Wilmington, NC, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018 in the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center.
Mrs. Cornell was born in Norwich, CT to the late Charles and Helen Jaskiewicz. She was retired from the Norwich Police Department and had served on the board at Park Congregational Church in Norwich. Mrs. Cornell was a graduate of the Norwich Free Academy.
Survivors include her son Gary Cornell and wife Liane of Swansea, MA; daughter Linda Eberle and husband Rev. Bill Eberle of St. James, NC; seven grandchildren, Matthew Eberle, Miranda Freberg, Sarah Eberle – Will, Jonathan Cornell, Jason Cornell, Allison Baker, and Tracy Cornell; and five great grandchildren, Aneliese Eberle, Liam Freberg, Declan Freberg, Ian Eberle – Will, and Harrison Cornell.
Mrs. Cornell was preceded in death by her husband Allen S. Cornell; a brother; and three sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at 11am on Saturday, May 19th at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly, RI. Burial will follow at First Hopkinton Cemetery, Hopkinton. For online condolences please visit www.gaffneydolanfuneralhome.com
