Howard L.  Eldredge
Howard L. Eldredge, Sr., 82, beloved husband of Jeannette (Sylvestre) Eldredge, of Burdick Lane, Pawcatuck, passed away at his home on Monday, May 14, 2018.

Born in Montville, CT, he was a son of the late Lester F. and Mildred (Roach) Eldredge.

Howard, known to the locals as the “Beep Beep Man”, worked as a First Class Rigger with Electric Boat in Groton for 24 years until his retirement. A US Army Veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the VFW Harley P. Chase Post in Pawcatuck. He was also an avid Red Sox fan who enjoyed bowling and collecting and working on time pieces.

In addition to his wife, he leaves five children, Howard L. Eldredge, Jr. of Tennessee, Willard Eldredge (Kathy) of Washington, William Eldredge (Judy) and Tina Johnson (Ron) all of Oregon, and Royal Eldredge of California; and four step-children, Tim Breault of Ashaway, Jeff Breault (Marita) of Hopkinton, Lisa Bradley of Ashaway and Kevin Breault (Melissa) of Stonington. Howard will also be dearly missed by his three sisters, Jean Costa of Ledyard, Jane Denton of Michigan and Hazel Hatcher (Fred) of Colorado; 26 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Julie Ann Woodburn, a granddaughter, Kerry Ellen Connell and her unborn daughter Kacey Isabelle Holdridge; his newborn great grandson Tyler Michael Eldredge; five siblings, Mildred Baxter, Dottie Jacobs, Lester F. “Red” Eldredge, Jr., Louis Eldridge, and Charles Eldridge; and two brothers-in-law, Albert Costa and Donald Denton.
He is survived by a son-in-law Tim Woodburn of Oregon; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara Eldredge of New York and Betty Eldridge of Connecticut. He revered his in-laws Mary and Lionel Sylvestre. He also leaves many members of the Sylvestre Family whom he adored.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 5-7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend a Funeral Service on Friday at 12 Noon in the funeral home. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly.
