Joseph F. Fusaro, Sr. beloved husband for 50 years of Anna (Didone) Fusaro of Reading Drive, Westerly passed away peacefully at his home on May 24th, 2018 at the age of 82.
Born in Westerly, he was the son of the late Peter P., Sr. and Frances Fusaro.
Joe was a graduate from Westerly High School Class of ’53 and a US Army veteran. He was the proud owner and operator of Fusaro’s Kumfort Barber Shop where he served the community for over 60 years. A communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, he was also a life member of the Mt. Carmel Feast Committee and member of the North End Social Club, the Bocce Club and the Calabrese Society. Joe was also a life member of the Cyclone Engine Company #2 of the Westerly Fire Department. Along with his love of gardening, canning peppers and wild mushroom hunting, he was a constant presence at all his grandchildren’s sporting events.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his sons, Joseph F. Fusaro, Jr. and his wife Dana, Peter M. Fusaro and his wife Lina and Michael Fusaro, all of Westerly; four sisters, Josephine Brancato, Carbita (Katy) Clark, Antoinette Roberts and Maryann Mandes, all of Westerly. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Peter, Joseph, Nicolas, Mackenzie, Jaclyn, Arianna and Eric. Joseph was predeceased by two brothers, Peter P. Fusaro and John Fusaro; as well as two sisters, Nancy Terranova and Julia Terranova.
Visiting hours are omitted. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 am at the Immaculate Conception Church 111 High St., Westerly. Burial will follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home 59 Spruce St. Westerly will oversee the arrangements.
