Obituary for Santo F. Risica

Santo F.  Risica
Santo F. Risica, 82, beloved husband for 64 years of Barbara (Gannon) Risica, of Shore Road, Westerly, passed away at The Westerly Hospital on Friday, July 27, 2018.

Born in Pawcatuck, he was the son of the late Antonio and Angelina Risica.

Santo worked as a Chief Designer for Electric Boat in Groton for many years until his retirement in 1994. He was a devoted communicant of St. Michael Church and a longtime coach in his earlier years with the Westerly Little League. He was also an avid NY Yankee fan and golfer who had two holes in one! Santo’s greatest passion in life was his family and he was always willing to lend a helping hand.

In addition to his loving wife, he will be dearly missed by his five children, Michael Risica and wife Marjorie of Lakeland, FL, Angela Furcolo and husband Louis of Ashaway, and Steven Risica, James Risica and Lisa Toscano and husband Thomas, all of Westerly. He is also survived by his brother Joseph S. Risica and wife Julie of Westerly, sister Marianne R. Leonard and husband Donald of Pawcatuck; eight grandchildren, Christopher Risica, Patrick Furcolo, Jessica Williams, Justin Risica, Kaitlyn Risica, Kyle Risica, Thomas Toscano IV, and Alexander Toscano; and step granddaughter Jessica Malone; four great grandchildren, Sophie Furcolo, Ryer Furcolo, Callan Williams and Harper Williams; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4-7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend a Funeral Liturgy on Tuesday at 10am at St. Mary’s Church, 95 Main St., Stonington. There is no procession from the funeral home to church. Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Pawcatuck. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Michael Capital Campaign, 60 Liberty St., Pawcatuck, CT 06379 in Santo’s memory.
