Phil Sorrento, 89, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Joanne (Mazzarella) Sorrento.

Born in Port Chester, New York to the late Joseph and Mary Sorrento, the family relocated to Pawcatuck.
Other survivors include his sons, Joseph Sorrento and Steven Sorrento and fiancée Lisa Shaw, all of Pawcatuck; and the apple of his eye, his grandson Riley Sorrento; his sister Mary Knowles; and niece Cynthia Knowles.

Phil served in the US Army during the Korean War. From a very young age, Phil was always infatuated with cars, especially Fords of the 30’s and 40’s. He later changed his allegiance to Chevrolet, and his favorite of all was his 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air convertible.

An avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan, Phil enjoyed following both teams and talking sports with his sons and grandson.

Special thanks go out to his home caretakers and Vitas Healthcare in Phil’s final months.

Phil’s life will be celebrated with a private service by family and close friends. Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly is in charge of the arrangements. For online condolences please visit www.gaffneydolanfuneralhome.com
