Mr. Fowkes lived down the road from my family. We met one day when he had fallen on his stairs. While we didn't know him well, we always made sure to check on him when driving by. My children would yell out- "Mom, we see your friend sitting in the window". We always knew if the curtains were open or the light was on he was doing ok. We also stopped by a few times to drop off cookies, help him get him maill, and made sure he was ok. We will miss him very much and will still think of him often.
