Obituary

Errol B. Crossman, of Pearl Street, Noank, passed away at his home on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at the age of 96. He was the husband of the late Alicia G. (Burdick) Crossman who predeceased him on March 18, 2019.

Errol worked as a commercial lobsterman for many years and for the Town of Groton School System as a custodian at Carl C. Cutler Jr. High. A US Air Force Veteran of WWII, he was a member of the Greatest Generation. Errol was also a 75-year member of the American Legion and a talented whittler and gardener. He will be dearly missed by his three children, Thomas I. “Ti” Crossman and his wife Kathryn Ellis of Durham, NH, Errolee “Ree” Rathbun and her husband Doug of Bradford, RI and Barton O. Crossman and wife Cheryl of Woodstock Valley, CT. Errol also leaves a brother Arnold L. Crossman and wife Janet of Noank; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Many thanks go out to his wonderful caregivers who played a giant part in being able to keep our dad safe and in his own home.

Errol & Alicia family;
A wonderful couple, our village will never be the same with their passing. They were always upbeat ,rich with humor ,and busy helping others. It was fascinating hearing Errol's stories of his WW II Bomber experiences . After 30 missions , he certainly did his part in winning the War. He was a very loyal member of the American Legion for years, faithfully appearing for the annual Noank parade. Both Errol and Alicia's quite and loving ways are woven into our Village community as well as in the lives of their children. Condolences to the family. Oliver & Priscilla Porter, Noank
