Obituary for Deborah B. Marcotte (Brown)

On Sunday September 27 Deborah (Brown) Marcotte of Westerly passed away at the age of “36”.

Deborah was born in 1959 (yes, she was 36, honest) in North Tonawanda, NY.
She was a member of Cranston West High School class of ’77. She graduated from Rhode Island College and attended Brandeis University.

She worked with vulnerable populations throughout her professional life providing support and services for the homeless and mentally ill. Her career highlights include serving as Director of the Employment program at Easter Seals of Groton, CT, Program Director at NAMI of Arlington, VA, Case Manager at South Shore Mental Health, Director at MHCA Wakefield Oasis, and Program Director at West Bay RI.
Deborah held strong convictions about social justice which are reflected in her professional life. More importantly she espoused these values in her everyday life. She grew up in Cranston and spent most of her adult life living in Westerly.

Deborah enjoyed everything associated with Westerly beaches, she loved arts and crafts and especially enjoyed cooking. She was an avid Patriots fan and bragged she was a chick who knew more about football than most men.

Deborah is survived by her loving husband David A Marcotte of Westerly; her brother Douglas Brown; nieces, Phoebe and Savannah; nephews, Theo, Anthony, Brett, Alex, and Cameron; as well as her loving dog Brady.

There will be a Celebration of her Life on the grounds of The Fantastic Umbrella Factory located at 4820 Old Post Rd. in Charlestown, RI at 9am on October 10th, followed by a brief ceremony at 10am. Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly is in care of the arrangements. For online condolences please visit www.gaffneydolanfuneralhome.com
