Obituary for Anthony C. Abruzzese Jr.
Anthony (Tony) C. Abruzzese, Jr, 69, of Westerly, RI, passed away on February 7, 2021. Born in Westerly, he was the son of the late Mary and Anthony (Brazz) Abruzzese, Sr.
He is survived by his sister Rosanne (Abruzzese) Giuliano and her spouse Glenn, nephew Adam Giuliano (Erin), niece Sarah (Giuliano) McGinley (Scott), great nieces and great nephews Hannah and Noah Giuliano and William and Freya McGinley, an aunt and several cousins.
Anthony attended Westerly schools and the Frank Olean Center. In his mid-thirties, with the help of the Olean Center, he landed a job with the Stop and Shop Supermarket in Westerly, RI., where he worked for over 30 years until retirement at age 65 years. Anthony was very proud to be working for the company and he was a proud UFCW union member.
Anthony was a faithful NY Yankees and NY Giants fan. He loved to attend minor league baseball games, as well as watch any sport program on television. He could recite facts and stats of many team members. Besides sports, Tony was interested in map reading, local and national news and 1960’s and 1970’s TV series.
The kindness of this gentle giant will be missed by his family and friends.
