Obituary for Mark Thomas Cook

Mark Cook of Pawcatuck, CT passed away unexpectedly the morning of February 16, 2021 at The Westerly Hospital at the age of 53.

Mark was born in Westerly, RI to Thomas Cook and the late Janet Cook. Mark was married to his wife of 22 years, Rebecca (Giorno) Cook. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca; his children, Aliyah and Skylah; his father, Tom; his sister and brother-in-law, Holly and Spencer Eaves of Charlestown; his brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Cheryl Cook, of Old Saybrook; and many nieces, a nephew, and friends.

Mark was a 1985 graduate of Stonington High School in Pawcatuck, CT. Mark spent all his years working in roofing and construction, many of those years making his own way with his business Cook’s Roofing and Construction. Independent, fiery and a rough exterior with a generous heart, Mark powered through each day. He walked on the rooftops he repaired without fear. Mark’s construction friends have so many stories about him shimmying along a rooftop, helping with a tough job or dropping onto a ladder with some “grace”. Mark never stopped, powered by his incredible work ethic and his love for his family, these were his superpowers.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark’s memory can be made to the PKD Foundation, PO Box 871847, Kansas City, MO 64187.

A private memorial service will be held at a future time and date. Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly is in care of the arrangements. For online condolences please visit www.gaffneydolanfuneralhome.com
