Obituary for Florence Louise Marie (Rosso)

Florence Louise Rosso Marie, lifelong resident of Westerly, passed away April 6, 2021 at the age of 104 with her family by her side. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to all.

She was born in Westerly to Michael and Louise Rosso. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Francis “Cappy” Marie; and her siblings, James, Michael, Julio, Albert, Jack and Louis Rosso, Rose Ligouri, Minnie Lord, and Angelina Castagnaro.

She is survived by her son Denie Marie and wife Lisa, her grandchildren Lisa Marie and fiancé Toby Kniffin, Lori Rizzo and husband David, Chris Marie and wife Lisa, Kellie Scott and husband Dana; great-grandchildren, Amanda Morin and husband Chris, Shawn Brisson, Zachary Scott, Madison Marie, Sam Rizzo, Tessa Rizzo, Joshua Marie; and great-great grandchildren, Miller and Benjamin Morin. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Her family was so special to her and she cherished all the time she spent with them. She enjoyed cooking and sharing her delicious meals and recipes with family and friends. Her quiet times were spent reading a good book.

A sincere thank you to her dear close friends that shared in her life as she continued to live independently. Flo looked forward to her time with them always reminiscing with her remarkable memory and sharing her life experiences. Her kindness and generosity will forever be in our hearts. She will be deeply missed by all those that knew her.

A special thank you to the nurses and staff of the Westerly Hospital Emergency Room and her primary care physician for providing her with comforting and compassionate care.

Visiting hours are omitted. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday at St. Pius X Church, 45 Elm St., Westerly. Burial will follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. Adherence to gathering guidelines for mask wearing and distancing is required. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home.
