Obituary for Mary E. Marchetti (Carr)
Mary E. (Carr) Marchetti, 93, of Westerly passed away at the Westerly Health Center on Friday, April 23, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Westerly, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Hilda A. Carr.
She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She enjoyed long walks, drives, bingo, crocheting, and most of all spending time with all of her family. Mary was a well-known cashier at the former Food Fair as well as many other local stores before retiring from Connecticut Casting. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church.
Mary is survived by her daughter Nancy L. Young, four grandchildren, John (Mary) Clemens II, Nanci-Beth (George) Routhier, Stacy (James) Clark, and Katrina (Steven) Ahern; ten great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her siblings, John and Raymond Carr and Ann West; and great-grandson Christopher Clark.
Known as Nana to all - her kindness and generosity will forever be in our hearts. She will be deeply missed by all those that knew her.
A Visiting Hour will be held at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly on Tuesday, April 27, from 11:30am to 12:30pm, immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 12:30pm in the funeral home. Attendees will be expected to follow guidelines for wearing masks, social distancing and capacity limitations of the funeral home, imposed by the Dept. of Health.
