Obituary for Eleanor Knowles (Urso)
Eleanor (Urso) Knowles, 88, beloved wife of George Knowles, Sr., of N. Anguilla Rd., Pawcatuck, passed away at L&M Hospital in New London on Saturday, May 22, 2021.
Born in Westerly she was the daughter of the late Michael and Maryann Urso.
Eleanor worked as a secretary for the Law Office of Urso & Adamo for many years until her retirement. Eleanor loved life and enjoyed being with her family and friends. As social as she was, Eleanor enjoyed her work at McQuades for several years where she knew everyone, and everyone knew her. Her home was an open door for anyone to stop by for a visit where she was always prepared with her amazing food. Her stuffed peppers and homemade pizza were famous among her family and friends and she always made plenty to share.
In addition to her husband George, she will be sadly missed by her two children, George Knowles Jr. and wife Kathy of Pawcatuck and Robin M. Bunting and husband Max of Houston, TX; two brothers, Nate Urso and Michael Urso, both of Westerly; three granddaughters and their spouses, Kerensa and Shawn Mansfield, Stephanie and Jason Santos, and Marlo and Mitch Paulk; and her eight great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
