Obituary for Rose A. Koretski

Rose A. (Brown) Koretski, 93, of Pawcatuck, passed away at her home on Friday, August 27, 2021. She was the wife of the late Philip Koretski.

Born in Babylon, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Brown.

Rose was a devout Catholic and longtime communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Pawcatuck, CT. She had a strong devotion to Saint Theresa and would often place a rose at her statue’s feet for special prayers and intentions. She was extremely proud of her Irish heritage, traveling there several times. She was a Master Quilter who traveled the country teaching the art of quilting. Rose was a member of the Ninigret Quilters Guild as well as the Narragansett Bay Quilters. She was a longtime volunteer at St. Michael School and a volunteer of the yearly Thanksgiving Dinner at Christ Church in Westerly. In her younger days she worked at Macy’s in New York City and marched in the famous Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. She was extremely proud to have traveled to fire houses in New York City following the 9/11 attacks to deliver a quilt to their firefighters. She also was a dedicated supporter of the Pawcatuck Fire Department, Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center, and many organizations in the local community lending her time, talent, and treasure.

She is survived by her children; Liz (Michael) Laudone of Bradford, RI, Philip (Jodie) Koretski of Westerly, RI, and Edward Koretski (Margaret Satryano) of Pawcatuck, CT, and her brother; Michael C. Brown of Boynton Beach, FL. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Brian (Sarah) Laudone, Jillian Laudone, Christopher Koretski, Katherine Koretski, Micaela Kluver, Jade (Sergiu) Costea, Savanna Kluver, and Tessa Kluver. She was also the Great Grandmother of Nadia Costea. Rose was predeceased by her dear cousin Barbara Rudolf. She is also survived by many friends and traveling companions especially Barbara Barber with whom she spent many trips and laughs over the quilt frame. In addition, they co-chaired the bi-annual Ninigret Quilt Show at the Westerly Armory – something she was preparing for this upcoming October where she will have her work featured in tribute.

Visiting hours are omitted. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Liturgy at St. Michael Church, 60 Liberty Street, Pawcatuck, CT, on Wednesday at 11 am. Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the St. Michael Church Capital Campaign Fund, 60 Liberty Street, Pawcatuck, CT 06379 in Rose’s memory.
