Obituary for Francesca Luzzi
Francesca Luzzi, 94, of Pierce St., Westerly, RI passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021.
Born in Acri, Province of Cosenza, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Gennaro and Giuseppina DeFranco of Italy.
Francesca was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church. She treasured time spent surrounded by family and friends and was so proud of all that her family accomplished. She took great pride in providing for her family with almost everything homemade from the garden she shared with her late husband of 72 years, Giuseppe Luzzi. She was a master at jarring everything from tomatoes to peppers to eggplants. In the winter she would always be around to help make ‘soupy.’ She enjoyed all the family parties from baptisms to weddings and would almost always make her way to the tambourine as her husband played the accordion so the family could dance to traditional Italian music.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Federico Luzzi and wife Giorgina, Immacolata Caracciolo, Mario Luzzi and wife Annunziata, Angelo Luzzi and wife Immacolata, Egidio Luzzi and wife Tonianne, Yolanda Beers, Joanna Valentini and husband Albert. She is pre-deceased by her son-in-law, Giuseppe Caracciolo and two daughters-in-law, Emily Luzzi and Lauri Luzzi. Francesca also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her siblings Francesco DeFranco, Giuseppe DeFranco, Amedeo DeFranco, Rosaria DeFranco, Immacolata DeFranco and Maria DeCaro.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 4-7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 10 am, at Immaculate Conception Church, 111 High St., Westerly. There is no procession to the church from the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly.
