Obituary for Lillian E. Rackett (Mitchell)
Lillian “Sue" (Mitchell) Rackett, 77 of Westerly, passed away at L&M Hospital on Sunday, February 20, 2022.
Born in Mystic, CT, Sue was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lillian Mitchell.
Sue enjoyed a life of service working many years as a housekeeper at both the Westerly Nursing Home and the Westerly Hospital. Sue also enjoyed her time as a member of the Board of Directors at the Westerly Senior Center.
Sue had many hobbies, but her true passion was home cooking. To her, cooking brought family together, and that was when she was the happiest.
Sue will be dearly missed by her four sons and their spouses, John C. And Robin Fletcher of Ashaway, RI, Albert J. and Jennifer Fletcher of Westerly, R.I., James P. Fletcher of St. Mary’s, GA, and Charles A. Fletcher of Ocala, FL; her brother Morris Mitchell of Pawcatuck; fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Sue was predeceased by her husbands Lawrence Dodge and Robert Rackett, six siblings, and her great-granddaughter Hali Mae Fletcher.
Visiting hours will be held on Thurs., Feb. 24, 2022 from 5-7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Funeral Service will take place at 10am the next day at the funeral home. Burial is private. For online condolences please visit www.gaffneydolanfuneralhome.com
