Obituary for Giuseppe Gencarelli

Giuseppe Gencarelli, beloved husband of 60 years of Elena Gencarelli, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at the age of 82. Born in Acri, Italy, he was the son of the late Angela Gencarelli.

On April 10, 1968, Giuseppe, his wife Elena, and his two eldest sons immigrated to the United
States with hopes of opportunity, security, and stability. Shortly after arriving in the US,
Giuseppe was employed by Wyman Gordon where he spent over 25 years of service. He also
worked as a landscaper to support his family, taking great pride tending to his own garden as
well as those of his family and friends. He cherished his Italian heritage, and instilled the values
of family and tradition within all of his children. When he wasn’t working to support his family,
Giuseppe enjoyed the company of his friends and family, sharing a glass of homemade wine,
playing a friendly game of bocce, and showcasing his beloved fig trees.

In addition to his beloved wife Elena, he leaves behind their six children, Angelo Gencarelli
(Tracy), Edward Gencarelli (Gwendolyn), Nancy Smithey (Mark), Frank Gencarelli, George
Gencarelli (Carolyn), and Joseph Gencarelli (Melissa); two sisters, Annunziata Crocco, and
Elena Magliari; nine grandchildren, Michael (Katy), Brian (Tessa), Edward Jr., Jacob, Joshua,
Aaron, Alexa, Gabriella, and Mila; and one great granddaughter Quinn. He was predeceased by
his son Attilio Gencarelli.
