Obituary for Irene Mae Servidio (Lunaas)

Irene Mae (Lunaas) Servidio, 87, of Grove Avenue, Westerly, passed away at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence on Thursday, March 3, 2022. She was the wife of the late Eugene J. Servidio.

Born in Noank, CT, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Lunaas.

Always an advocate for learning, Irene was a longtime teacher at Little People of Westerly and was very committed as a literacy coach with local immigrants who were applying for citizenship to the U.S. She was a devout communicant of St. Pius X Church and a former CCD teacher. Irene loved to travel and was an accomplished wood carver.

She will be lovingly remembered by her six children, Gina I. Callaghan and husband Glenn of Sarasota, FL, James V. Servidio of Westerly, Peter Servidio and wife Susanne of Seekonk, MA, Chris D. Servidio and wife Lisa, and Bobbi Servidio, all also of Westerly, and Stephen P. Servidio and wife Jane of Mystic, CT; eight grandchildren, Patrick, Cara (Eric), Leslie (Kyle), Jamie, Thomas, Rachael, Sarah and Anna; and two great-grandchildren, Jayden and Rocco. Irene also leaves behind her brother Edward Lunaas and wife Shirley of Westerly; sisters-in-law Mary West and Lillian Uzzi, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Peter, Robert and David Lunaas.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-7 pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10am on Thursday at St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm St., Westerly.
