Obituary for Barbara A. LaMarche (Findeisen)
Barbara A. (Findeisen) LaMarche, 91 of Pawcatuck, CT, passed away at her home on Sunday, March 13, 2022. Barbara was a loyal friend with a sharp wit, a talented singer, and the life of any party, always armed with a cigarette and a glass of red wine. Her vibrant presence made the world a livelier place.
Born in Westerly, she was the daughter of the late Otto and Winifred Findeisen.
Barbara worked as a receptionist and secretary for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the ladies’ auxiliary at the Pawcatuck VFW Harley P Chase Post #1205. She was also a former member of the YMCA Garden Club.
She is survived by her three children, Gara LaMarche (Lisa Mueller) of Stonington, David LaMarche of New York City, and Barbara Montalto (Stephen) of Westerly; four grandchildren, Una (Jeff), Zoe (Ben), Zachary (Nicole) and Dylan; as well as four great-grandchildren, Sam, Max, Leo and Phoebe. Her final years were greatly enriched by the companionship of Phil Newbury. She was predeceased by her five siblings, Ida Orlando, Margaret Booth, Jeannette Duhamel, Ernest Findeisen and John Findeisen; her son-in-law Jonathon Appels; and her former husband Philip LaMarche.
A visiting hour will be held at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly on Friday from 11am – 12 noon, immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 12 noon in the funeral home. Burial will take place at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly.
