Obituary for Constance M. Cannon (Maderia)

Constance M. (Maderia) Cannon, of Liberty Street, Pawcatuck, passed away at L&M Hospital on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at the age of 83. She was the wife of the late Jerry T. Cannon.

Born and raised in Stonington, CT, she was the daughter of the late John and Lucy Maderia.

Growing up in the Stonington Borough, Connie loved all things related to the ocean. As a child she loved watching the boats go out every day. Spending time at the beach was something she loved to do. Lovingly known as Mimi to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she adored spending time with them. Mimi could be found walking downtown with her grandkids, taking them to Dairy Queen, The Blue Mitten, and the library and park. .

She leaves behind five children, Christine Barker (Douglas) of Westerly, Connie Cannon (Jim) of Ashaway, Joyce Thompson of Plainfield, CT, Geraldine Nichol (Tim) of Jordan, MN, and
Jerry T. Cannon, Jr. (Pamela) of Pawcatuck. Constance is also survived by two siblings, James Maderia of Pawcatuck and Debbie Crowley (Bob) of Vermont; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her older brother John.

Visiting hours will be held at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly on Thursday from 9am-10:30am, immediately followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 11am at St. Michael Church, 60 Liberty St., Pawcatuck.
