Uncasville - Frederick H. Perkins, Jr. died peacefully at Matulaitis Nursing Home, Putnam on April 22, 2022 at the age of 91. Born in Uncasville, he was the son of the late Frederick H. and Jennie M. Perkins.
In August of 1955 on board the Yankee enroute to Block Island, Fred met his future wife of 65 years, Eleanor M. Lacasse. They married at St. Mary’s Church, North Attleborough, MA on August 11, 1956.
Fred graduated from Chapman Tech, New London and served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Following his graduation from the University of Connecticut, he worked as a Certified Public Accountant at Martin Gottesdiener and Co., in New London for 30 years before establishing his own accounting practice with Glen Aldrich at Aldrich Perkins and Company in Waterford. Throughout his career, he served on the advisory boards of numerous charitable organizations.
He was a communicant of St. John Church, Uncasville and St. Michael Church, Pawcatuck. Fred and Eleanor enjoyed spending time with family, vacations on Block Island, and cruises to different parts of the world.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his six children, Frederick E. Perkins and his wife Rosario of West Hartford, Maureen J. Benway of Uncasville, Brian M. Perkins and his wife Susan of Hampstead, MD, Kevin A. Perkins and his wife Cindy of Uncasville, the Very Reverend Dennis M. Perkins of Pawcatuck, and Kathleen A. Malloy and her husband James of Mystic; his grandchildren, Shawn, Timothy, Brendan, Eileen, Stephanie, Lydia, Mariah, Jennifer, Jaclyn, Zachary, Sarah, Mary Katherine, Christopher, Andrew, and Mary Margaret, as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Janice DeFord.
Visiting hours are omitted. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael Church, 60 Liberty Street, Pawcatuck at 11 am on Thursday, April 28, 2022. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Uncasville.
