Obituary for Vincenzo Emilio DeBartolo

Vincenzo Emilio DeBartolo, 91 of Westerly, passed away at The Westerly Hospital on Friday, May 20th. He was the beloved husband of the late Giuseppa (Josephine) DeBartolo for nearly 68 years. Born in Acri, Italy, he was the son of the late Natale and Maria DeBartolo.

Vincenzo was a communicant of St. Pius X Church. He was a foreman for Altimano Landscaping for many years. After the business closed, he worked for the Westerly School Department as a custodian retiring after 10 years of service.

Vincenzo was a loving husband and a devoted father. He cared deeply for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved working in his garden which provided delicious food for special Sunday dinners with his family. Vincenzo “Papa” will be remembered for his strong work ethic, devotion to his family and deep faith.

He will be sadly missed by his daughter Margaret Ravenelle, of Westerly, his five grandchildren Vanessa (Michael) Harwood, Brian (Meghan) Ravenelle, Brandon (Amy) Raiche, and Lucas Raiche all of Westerly and Lindsay Raiche of Fall River, and his five great-grandchildren Jacob, Samson, Madelyn, Charlotte, and Norah. He will also be missed by his brother Francesco DeBartolo, and his sisters, Ortenzia Servidio, and Emilia Siciliano, all of Westerly and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, Vincenzo was predeceased by his beloved daughter Ann Marie Raiche and his son-in law Gary Raiche. He was also predeceased his brothers Luigi DeBartolo and Annunziato DeBartolo, and his sisters Angelina Perrone, and Marietta Gaccione all of Italy.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Chestnut Cottage at the Elms, The Westerly Hospital and Hope Hospice for their compassion and care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Vincenzo’s memory to the Rev, Raymond N. Suriani Scholarship Fund, St, Pius X Church, 44 Elm Street, Westerly, RI 02891.

Visting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 25th from 9 A.M. – 10:30 A.M. in the Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 A.M at St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm Street, Westerly, RI, Burial will follow in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly
