Obituary for Christa M. Bromley (Schelllman)
Christa M. (Schellmann) Bromley, 90, of Norwich Westerly Rd., N. Stonington, CT, passed away at Beechwood Rehab on June 25, 2022. She was the wife of the late Maurice Eugene “Gene” Bromley.
Born in Breslau, Germany, she was the daughter of Alfred and Ida Schellmann. She was predeceased by her parents and 3 siblings.
She is survived by her 3 children, Alfred (Carol), Rosemarie (Kevin) and Ingrid; 4 grandchildren; and 2 sisters-in-law, Meredith & Cecile as well as several nieces & nephews.
Christa was employed as the school lunch director in North Stonington for many years. She was known by generations of students as the “Lunch Lady” and was famous for her delicious apple crisp and oatmeal crispy cookies. She also volunteered a great deal of time at The Westerly Hospital. Christa was an animal lover who enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, and knitting.
The family would like to thank the staff of Beechwood Post-Acute Care facility in New London for their loving and compassionate care of Christa.
A graveside service will take place at 12 noon on Friday July 22, 2022 at the Union Cemetery on Route 49, North Stonington, CT. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Foster Parrots at https://www.fosterparrots.com.
